The Tangerang City Metro Police, through the Pinang Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit, have successfully apprehended a suspect for methamphetamine abuse in the Jatiuwung District, Tangerang City.

The suspect, identified as A (44), was apprehended on Monday afternoon, January 19, 2026, in Dumpit Village, Gandasari Subdistrict, Jatiuwung District, based on a tip-off from the public, which was quickly followed up by officers.

A search of the location revealed three plastic packages containing methamphetamine weighing a total of 1.5 grams, as well as a mobile phone suspected of being used in drug trafficking.

Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Dr. Raden Muhammad Jauhari, S.H., S.I.K., M.Si., emphasized that this arrest demonstrates the police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking within the Tangerang City Metro Police jurisdiction.

“We will not give any room whatsoever for perpetrators of drug abuse or trafficking.

This is a real threat to the security and future of the nation’s future generations, so we will take firm action in accordance with applicable law,” the Police Chief emphasized.

Based on initial interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to him and planned to resell it.

The perpetrator also admitted to obtaining the illicit goods from an unknown individual in the Ambon Complex, Cengkareng.

The perpetrator and the evidence are currently being held at the Pinang Police Station for further investigation and will be prosecuted under the provisions of the new Criminal Code.

Namely Law No. 1 of 2023, Article 609 in conjunction with Article 610 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison, as well as other narcotics laws.

The Tangerang City Metro Police Chief also urged the public to continue to play an active role in providing information to the police.
